VBcamps Volleyball at Teton County Rec Center

Reach your peak performance potential. VBcamps and former NCAA collegiate head coach Mike Welch will be hosting the Peak Volleyball Camp at the Teton County Rec Center on July 12-14, 2010. Sessions run from 9:00 to 11:30 and 12:30 to 3:00 PM each day, with check-in 20 minutes early on the first day. Cost is $199. More information can be found at www.vbcamps.com.

Sports Camp USA Volleyball Camp at JHHS

The Bronc Backers will be hosting a Sports Camp USA volleyball camp at Jackson Hole High School on July 19 - 21, 2010. The camp is directed by David Richards, a former BYU men's players and former member of the USA men's nationals team. The camp is open to 7th through 12th graders and more information can be found in the camp brochure.

Travel Team IVA Reseeding Tournament Results

3/8/2010
The JHVB Travel Team was in Salt Lake City on March 5th & 6th for the USAV Intermountain Region's club division reseeding tournament. Jackson finished first in their pool in the first round of pool play on Friday night, advancing to the Division I pools on Saturday. Several close sets in round 2 of pool play on Saturday gave the team a 4th place pool finish with a 2-4 record, including two close sets (24-26, 22-25) with eventual tournament winner Colorado Crush 17-1. Jackson took 11th overall with a win over the Davis Juniors 18 team and loss to Split Mountain17 in bracket play.

13-Black and 14-Black March 6 EIVA Results

The 13-Black and 14-Black teams both competed March 6th in an EIVA 14-under tournament in Jackson. The 13-Black team finished 3rd in pool play and took 6th place overall, while the 14-Black team finished 1st in their pool and placed 2nd overall in the tournament

Travel Team IVA Tournament 1 & 2 Results

The JHVB Travel Team was in Salt Lake City on February 6th & 20th for the USAV Intermountain Region's club division Tournaments 1 & 2. At Tournament 1, Jackson finished 3rd in pool play after a couple of close 3-set battles and took 16th overall with a win over Victory 17 and loss to Color Country 17-1 in bracket play. JHVB improved to a 2nd place pool play finish in Tournament 2 with set wins over Club Fusion 17 and Utah Elite 17, and ended up 13th overall after a bracket play loss to Mountain West 16-1.

Winter Club Session... Good Times!

The 2010 winter club session was a lot of fun and we saw lots of improvement in our volleyball skills. This year's group included 30 athletes between the ages of 12 and 17.

Sweetheart Dinner Fundraiser

Bring family, friends or that special sweetheart to the JH Volleyball Sweetheart Dinner fundraiser at Pizza Hut on Friday, February 12th from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. An $8 per person fee at the door includes pizza, salad bar, dessert, and beverages. Proceeds benefit the JH Volleyball club travel team.

NC State Wolfpack Signs Kelly Burns for 2009

NC State (www.gopack.com) head volleyball coach Charita J. Stubbs announced the signing of Kelly Burns on Wednesday, Nov. 19. A native of Jackson, Wyoming, Burns will join the team in time for the 2009 season. A senior at Jackson Hole High, she will play at the setter position.

“I am excited to have a dynamic athlete in Kelly Burns,” said Stubbs. “Her athletic abilities and natural feel for the game will make her a force in the ACC. She is a young lady that is used to working hard and traveling far for top-flight competition.”

JHVB is extremely excited for this great opportunity for one of its finest athletes. We wish Kelly the best of luck next fall and know that she will represent us well.

Anna Day Wraps Up Her First Season at Grinell

The Grinell Pioneers (www.grinnell.edu/Athletics/volleyball) wrapped up their season with an overall record of 7-21. Anna Day finished 3rd on the team in the blocking category for the season, with 5 solos and 42 assists, for a .60 blocks per game average. She was also named to the all-tournament team at their Sept. 5 & 6 invitational tournament.

NC State Volleyball Camp

North Carolina State University will be hosting a volleyball camp at Jackson Hole Middle School starting the evening of July 31st and running through mid-day August 2nd. Jackson girls who will be entering the 7th through 12th grade this fall are eligible to attend. Cost will be only $50, payable to the Bronc Backers, and you may register at the door. Please show up early so we can get everyone registered and start on time.

Camp hours will be July 31st from 5-8 PM, August 1st from 8-11 AM and 1-4 PM, and August 2nd from 8-11 AM.

Mark your calendars and make sure you take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to attend a volleyball camp this summer right here at home!

VBcamps and former ISU head coach Mike Welch will be hosting a summer volleyball camp at the Teton County Rec Center on July 29-31. Anna Day Going to Grinnell

Anna Day will be continuing her volleyball and academic career at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. Grinnell College is a Division III school and a member of the All-Midwest Conference. Grinnell finished 7th in the conference last year and had an overall record of 5-24. We wish Anna all the best and know that she will represent JHVB and JHHS Bronc volleyball in fine fashion!

Kelly Burns Gives Verbal Commitment to NC State

Kelly Burns has given North Carolina State a verbal commitment to attend under full scholarship in 2009. NC State is a Division I school in Raleigh, North Carolina and a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. NC State finished last in the conference last year with a 3-29 overall record. We are excited for this scholarship opportunity for Kelly and look forward to a fun and successful senior season next year!

2008 Colorado Crossroads

The Jackson Hole Volleyball 18-1 team finished 87th at the Colorado Crossroads tournament held in Denver, Colorado over the weekend. The tournament boasts 900+ teams from all over the country that compete for bids in the USA Junior Olympic Championship that will be held in Dallas, Texas. The Jackson squad took 3rd in pool play on Friday and then took 3rd again in pool play on Saturday. After a first round victory against Metro American from Washington D.C, Jackson was defeated by the Arizona Mile High 18 National team.

Wasatch Festival Canceled This Year

This year's Wasatch Festival in Provo has unfortunately been canceled due to scheduling and facility conflicts. Despite attempts to schedule alternative dates and facilities, festival director Marinda Ashman reported that they were unable to get enough teams to attend on alternate available weekends.

We are researching replacement tournament opportunities for the end of our club season. Check your email regularly for updates on this issue and touch base with Mike DeLange if you have suggestions or ideas.

Jackson Men's Team Takes 9th at UVSC

The Jackson men’s team competed in the Utah Valley State College Invitational over the weekend. Pool play on Friday earned Jackson a 10th place seeding for bracket play held on Saturday. After an opening round loss to Utah State University, the team went on to defeat Utah Valley State College and the University of Utah to finish 9th in the tournament. Team members included Jon Patterson, Chris Wolstenholme, Ryan Walker, Shandy O’Neal, Scott Dewey, Mike Nicholds, and Mike DeLange.

Cowboy State Games Discontinued

After 22 years, the Cowboy State Games festival in Casper has been discontinued. The Jackson adult volleyball community has sent teams to this event for many years and it will be missed. See the Casper Tribune article here for more information.

Spring Deadline

1/25/2008
The deadline to sign up for spring session has been changed to Monday, February 4. A late fee will be added if your registration is received after that date and late registration can limit playing time opportunities for athletes. Sign Up today!

Winter Deadline

12/15/2007
The deadline for Winter session registration is Friday, December 21st. You can still register after that date, but a $25 late fee will be added to your club fee. Sign Up today!

Saturday Results

3/31/2007
All five Jackson Hole Volleyball youth teams traveled to eastern Idaho tournaments on March 31st. In Sugar City, the 13-1 team finished 4th in its pool and took 8th place overall, while the 14-2 team finished 3rd in its pool and took 6th place overall. The 14-1 team was in Rigby and finished in 2nd with an exciting 31-29 victory in their final game of the day. The 16’s were in Rexburg and also had a 2nd place finish. The 18’s were in Idaho Falls and once again won their tournament. The Jackson club teams will resume tournament play after spring break and will be hosting a 14-under tournament on May 5th at JHHS.

Saturday Results

Four of the Jackson Hole Volleyball youth teams saw action on March 24th. In Rigby, the 13-1 team finished 3rd in its pool and ended up taking 6th place overall, while the 14-1 team was in Rexburg and took 3rd place overall. Jackson hosted both the 16’s and the 18’s tournament, and the Jackson teams dominated with the 18-1 team taking 2nd and the 16-1 team taking 1st place.

Crossroads Results

The Jackson 18-1 team was in Denver for the Colorado Crossroads Junior Olympic qualifier on March 16-18, which hosted 984 teams in several age divisions from all over the US. Despite several close matches, the Jackson squad finished 4th in their pools on day 1 and day 2. Jackson came back strong in their final day bracket however, and advanced to the championship match where they were defeated by the Carolina Juniors 18 team.

Saturday Results

All five JHVB club teams were in action this weekend. The 13-1 and 14-2 teams were in Rigby and finished 8th and 6th, respectively. The 14-1 team was in Rexburg and the 16-1 team was in Sugar City, both taking 3rd place in their tournaments. The 18-1 team was in Driggs and ended up in a 3-way tie for third in a pool play only event.

Alumni Volleyball Night

The first annual Alumni Volleyball Night was held on Thursday night. A total of 26 players, including alumni, varsity, and coaches participated in the event, as well as a solid showing of spectators. The group split into four teams representing the 2006 Varsity, 2004/2005 Varsity, 2001 Varsity, and coaching staff, and played a round-robin format.

UVSC Men's Invitational Results

The JH Volleyball men participated in the UVSC Invitational over the weekend. Jackson finished third in their pool, which included the UVSC Alumni, Team Do It, and Team Las Vegas. A 12th place seeding matched them up with #4 Blitzkrieg in the opening round of bracket play. After a first round loss, Jackson dropped to the consolation bracket to play Southern Utah University and were narrowly defeated 26-24 in their final game. The JH Volleyball men's team consisted of Chris Wolstenholme, Scott Dewey, Joe Paulson, Shandy O'Neal, Mike Nicholds, Mike DeLange, and Tim Humphries.

Tough Turkey Tournament Results

The JH Volleyball Gold and JH Volleyball One coed teams finished second and third in the power division of the Tough Turkey tournament in Green River. The two Jackson teams played 20 games in pool play on Saturday and bracket play included 8 games for One and 10 games for Gold on Sunday. The two Jackson teams met each other twice in bracket play, going the full three games both times. JHVB One team members included Mischa Luksich, Ali Maguire, Susan Fisher, Mike Nicholds, Chris Wolstenholme, and Scott Dewey. JHVB Gold consisted of Elesif Smith, Cass Lee, Tina Flowers, Jon Patterson, Shandy O'Neal, and Mike DeLange. The second place finish ended a streak of four first place finishes at the Turkey in the last four years. Saturday evening bowling scores are classified and distributed on a need-to-know basis.

Casper Open Men's Tourney Results

The JH Volleyball Men's team took third in the power division of the Casper Open tournament. Congratulations to Mike DeLange, Saghi Leoni, Shandy O'Neal, Joe Paulson, Phillip Divolt, Jon Patterson, Mike Nicholds, and Scott Dewey. Jackson was knocked out by Team Switch, who went on to take second after being beat by Club Doom from Denver.
